Hudson's first meal

We fed Hudson his first bowl of rice cereal yesterday. It was a fun event for the entire family. Madison excitedly fed Hudson his first bite. She would have liked to feed him the entire bowl herself, but Mom and Dad wanted a turn as well and took over for a while. It's no surprise to us that he ate it up like a champ and highly enjoyed this new form of nourishment. Sometimes you can just tell when a kid is going to be a good eater, and I think its safe to say that Hudson is one of these kids. He took down the cereal like he's been eating for weeks and it seemed to settle well. The best part of it all was that he slept almost 8 hours last night!!! Hopefully this solid meal will help hold this big boy's appetite down through the night.

Finally an update!!

It's been a while since I have updated anything going on in our lives. I guess we have all had a busy start to this new year. Brian has started what hopes to be one of his last semesters of course work for his degree, I have been picking up more and more hours back at work and also celebrated a birthday this month, and the kids are being their typical amazing selves...just growing way too fast.

Madison has taken off with her writing abilities and wants to know how to spell everything she thinks of. Her major accomplishment this month has been to write (not just dictate, but actually write down every word) and illustrate her first book titled The Lost Prince. Hudson's newest discovery has been his feet. He can spend hours a day entertaining himself by playing with his toes. (In order to reach them though, he either needs to be in a one piece outfit or pantless so his belly does not get in the way.) When he has socks on he will tug at them and talk to his feet until he pulls them off. You can tell it is quite an accomplishment for him. A few times he has actually pulled the toes into his mouth. Since everything goes in his mouth these days, he really seems to enjoy this. Oh, and our big boy is now sitting in his high chair during dinner...eyeing our food until he gets to eat some!

Hudson is 4 months old!!

This month has been filled with tons of fun with our big boy. Hudson's personality continues to emerge, and we all fall more in love with him by the day. He's still an extremely happy baby and rewards us with oodles of smiles, laughter and coos. He's very content and hardly fusses...usually just when he's hungry or tired. Playtime has consisted of new experiences in his exersaucer, play gym and johnny jumper. His hand-eye coordination is great and he enjoys swatting and grabbing all the toys. He's also rolling pretty well, so its hard to keep him on his belly very long. Bath time has turned into a splashing frenzy, and he has a new fascination with my water bottles. He already tries to pull it to his mouth to drink it. His favorite thing these days is his jumper, and he really gets going when someone jumps in front of him...especially Madison. It is becoming evident that Hudson watches her and already wants to keep up with or compete with her.

Quick story: They were having a true dialogue the other night. It started out with sweet sounds and coos, but then the louder and more excited Madison got, the louder Hudson got. It escalated to a point that Brian and I could barely hear each other and we finally found ourselves asking them to settle down...I guess we just got a little taste of what we are in for as they get older. Truthfully though, I thought it was very sweet and I'm delighted that they are so fond of each other.

At his 4 month check up we were given his latest stats. He's slowing down a bit in the weight department and has dropped to the 90th percentile instead of the 95th, but he's still a big boy!

Height: 25 1/2 inches

We are still waiting for him to sleep through the night, but thankfully his happiness sure makes up for the lack of sleep...and the fact that he's so darn cute!!
